The goals or intended learning outcomes for this course are based on the relevant General Competencies for the Uniting Church’s specified Ministry of Pastor. Learning for either general interest or for prospective presbytery authorisation will each be enhanced by participation in the learning activities and assessment tasks of the course.

The learning outcomes of this course will enable you to:
summarise the foundations [and practices] of Uniting Church theology of the sacraments, with reference to the Basis of Union
outline the purpose of Holy Communion and Baptism within life of a congregation or faith community
describe the role of a presider in worship, with particular reference to the sacraments
summarise steps in preparing to celebrate the sacraments, including baptismal preparation
justify presidency of the sacraments by lay leaders in the Uniting Church
identify issues related to celebrating sacraments in varying contexts, including ecumenical, cultural and interfaith issues
compare resources to assist in the preparation of youth and adults to participate in the sacraments, and in confirmation.

identify/critique resources to assist in the preparation of youth and adults to participate in the sacraments, and in confirmation.
