Course outline 2014

In November 2014 Rev Paul Stephens and Rohan Pryor trialled Understanding the Sacraments as a ‘blended’ course with both online learning activities and face-to-face gatherings at the Blackburn North – Nunawading Uniting Church. The learning group gathered at 355 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading from 7.00-9.30pm on three Wednesday nights: 12th, 19th and 26th November.

Rev Paul Stephens

Paul is the Presbytery Minister for Mission and Education in the Presbytery of Yarra Yarra, which ranges from Kensington to Healesville along the Yarra river valley. Paul’s ministry experience has included placements in Bairnsdale, and Geelong where the Wesley Centre for Life Enrichment flourished under his leadership over 15 years. Paul’s ministry interests have included parish concerns and congregational ministry, community service agency issues, ‘fresh expressions’ of the church and missional communities, and regional leadership and oversight of many facets of the Uniting Church.

This pilot runs in ‘blended and flipped’ mode, meaning a blend of both online and gathered learning experiences, and a focus on sharing and presentation when gathered (‘content transmission’ through lectures or readings, some of which can be viewed online).

If you have a willingness to explore and learn together, to share your faith and listen to others, and to look at the deeper and lighter aspects of the Sacraments, you’re ready to start.
